Minutes

Board Members Present – Shaun Ziems, Aimee Saari, Jackie VanOvermeiren, Barb Sim

Board Members Absent – Lindsay Schwiesow

Staff Present – Kelly LaMore

The meeting was called to order by President Sim at 6:30 p.m. Roll call was taken. Quorum was present.

Motion to approve minutes of the December 12, 2023 board meeting by Ziems, second by Saari.

Roll call vote VanOvermeiren – yes, Ziems – yes, Saari – yes, Sim – yes.

Motion carried 4/0.

Public Comment – No public comment.

Reports –

Financial Report – President Sim reported that budget planning should start soon and the 3^rd installment should go to LWSRA soon.

Compliance/Legal – President Sim reported that W2’s and 1099’s will be sent out soon. The attorney is working on the road transfer. The resolution for the referendum question was certified by the county.

Maintenance Report – Jeff was not in attendance.  Kelly reported on vandalism in the park before Christmas.  There was significant damage to the outdoor restroom facility, garbage and other items were scattered around park.  A police report was filed.

Managers Report – Kelly updated the board on the status of the bathroom renovations, holiday programs including Noon Year’s, holiday programs, and Nerf Wars. She reminded everyone to keep an eye out for an email regarding Statements of Economic Interest.  This needs to be completed by May 1.

Accounts Payable and Payroll –

Motion to approve bills and payroll by VanOvermeiren, second by Ziems.

Roll call vote – Ziems– yes, Saari – yes, VanOvermeiren – yes, Sim – yes.  Motion carried, 4/0.

Old Business –

1. New Programs – Discussion held on need for Rec Care. Kelly reported that the response to the questionnaire regarding Rec Care was not promising, but after school programs could be introduced. Discussion held on activities for spring break.
2. Authorize Repairs/upgrades to park facilities – Discussion held on the need to update the Capitol Expenditure Schedule.
3. Authorize repairs/upgrades to park equipment – Tabled

New Business –

1. Referendum Meetings – Dates for meetings and representatives were discussed and scheduled as follows.
   • Village of Peotone Meeting – January 22, 2024 – Sim/Ziems
   • Public Meeting @PD – February 8, 2024, 2:45 pm – Sim/VanOvermeiren
   • Public Meeting @ PD – February 13, 2024, 6:00 pm – Sim/Saari
   • Public Meeting @ PD – February 24, 2024, 12:00 pm– Ziems/Saari
   • Public Meeting @ PD – March 12, 2024, 6:00 pm – VanOvermeiren/Schwiesow

Correspondence/Communications/Petitions – None

Commissioner Remarks – Commissioner Schwiesow sent remarks in an email regarding Jessica Migliera being a great addition to the team. She has heard lots of great things.

Motion to adjourn the board meeting at 7:50 p.m. by Ziems. Second by Saari.

Voice vote, motion carried.  4/0.
