Minutes

Board Members Present – Barb Sim, Aimee Saari, Lindsay Schwiesow, Jackie VanOvermeiren, Shaun Ziems

Staff Present – Kelly LaMore, Jeff Eschbach

The meeting was called to order by President Sim at 6:30 p.m. Roll call was taken. Quorum was present.

Motion to approve the minutes of the November 12, 2024 board meeting by Saari, second by Schwiesow. Roll call vote, Saari – yes, Schwiesow – yes, VanOvermeiren – yes, Sim – yes.   Motion carried 4/0.

Public Comment –  None

Commissioner Ziems arrived at 6:37.

Reports –

Financial Report – November financials were reviewed.

Compliance/Legal – Referendum paperwork from election has been filed.  Salary threshold increase will not take place January 1, it was struck down in November.

Maintenance Report – Jeff reported on getting park winterized, completion of disc golf tee pads, the new cabinet to hide the water heater in the women’s bathroom, and completion of the entryway tile.  Jeff also recommended the purchase of a block heater for the tractor costing about $100 since it is now in the garage.  He was told to proceed with the purchase.

Managers’ Report – Kelly reported on upcoming holiday events including Grinchmas at the Park, the lighted parade, Storytime with Santa, and Noon Year’s Celebration. Two petitions were submitted for the April commissioner election.

 Accounts Payable and Payroll –. Barb and Jen have been working on the Auto Debit in the new system. Transfer was made to pay for conference registration

Motion to approve bills and payroll by Ziems, second by Schwiesow.

Roll call vote – Ziems– yes, Saari – yes, Schwiesow – yes, VanOvermeiren – yes, Sim – yes.   Motion carried, 5/0.

 Old Business –

1. New Programs – Tabled
2. Capital Improvements – Tabled
3. Authorize repairs/upgrades to park facilities – Discussion held on sound proofing for the main room to help reduce echo.

Motion by Saari to spend up to $3,000 for acoustic tile, paint and other supplies in the main room. Seconded by Sim. Roll call vote, Saari – yes, Schwiesow – yes, VanOvermeiren – yes, Ziems – yes, Sim – yes.  Motion carried, 5/0.

1. Authorize repairs/upgrades to park equipment – Staff received a call about the bubbler in the pond not working. Jeff was able to restart it.  President Sim asked Jeff to look into replacement prices for the future.
2. 2025 Peotone Park District Board Meeting Dates –

Motion to approve the proposed 2025 board meeting dates by Ziems, Second by Saari. Roll call vote, Sim – yes, Ziems – yes, Schwiesow – yes, Saari – yes, VanOvermeiren – yes, Motion carried 5/0.

New Business –

1. 2024 Tax Levy Ordinance – Motion to approve the proposed 2024 Tax Levy Ordinance by Ziems, Second by Schwiesow. Roll call vote, Sim – yes, Ziems – yes, Schwiesow – yes, Saari – yes, VanOvermeiren – yes, Motion carried 5/0.

Correspondence/Communications/Petitions – None

Commissioner Remarks – Commissioner Schwiesow commented on recent social media posts and how much attention they are getting.  Good for the park district to be active.

Motion to adjourn at 7:07 pm by Ziems, second by VanOvermeiren.

Voice vote. Motion carried.
